英语中，contest 和 competition都有“比赛”的意思，但是在实际应用中，这两个词还有是一定的区别的，今天我们一起来学习一下。
例句1：Tom was awarded first prize in the writing contest.
汤姆在写作比赛中获得了一等奖。
例句2：Let’s have a jumping contest after class.
课后我们来一个跳高比赛吧。
例句3：Let’s have a debate competition in September.
让我们九月份来一个辨认大赛吧！
例句4：There will be a contest between Tyson and Homes.
泰森和霍姆斯之间将有一场比赛。
例句5：There will be a competition between Tyson and Homes.
泰森和霍姆斯之间将有一场比赛。
例句4和例句5的表达方式都可以，但是例句5则暗指“有好几场比赛”的意思。
4. 时间较长的比赛不可以用contest，只能用competition。
例句6：Tom won the two-year competition in the end.
汤姆最终赢得了为期两年的比赛。
